Mariani select

As we work to finish updating our 2021 catalog, we are excited to share with you a new icon that we will be adding to our catalog, website, and availabilities in the coming year. We have decided to single out our top-performing varieties and designate them as ‘Mariani Select’ plants. These are plants that we have had consistent success with over the years and feel confident in recommending to our customers. They include newer introductions as well as tried-and-true varieties that have been around for decades.

Our lineups of trees, shrubs, and perennials have all fluctuated throughout the years as we strive to meet market demand for the most popular plants, while simultaneously adding in new and exciting varieties to trial. We have seen some varieties gain increasing popularity seemingly overnight, like Allium ‘Millenium’, while the demand for others, like Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’, has remained consistently high year after year. Some new varieties can seem promising, but then fall short of our expectations when we have the chance to grow them ourselves. And others, like Echinacea Lakota™ Fire, have quickly proven to be superior plants that we can’t wait to recommend to our customers every chance we get.

It can be difficult to navigate the market when there are new introductions being released every year and we have to increasingly choose between traditional favorites and new varieties promising improved genetics. We value the trust that you put in us every time you choose to bring in our plant material, and we hope that the introduction of the ‘Mariani Select’ designation can be one more tool for you to use when it comes to planning for your landscape and garden center needs.
